Space-Based Photographs Reveal Iranian Navy and Nuclear Facilities Targeted by Joint US and Israeli Military Action.

A series of American and Israeli airstrikes has allegedly sunk or crippled a minimum of eleven Iranian naval vessels starting the weekend, new aerial photos demonstrate, with rocket sites and nuclear sites also being targeted.

Pictures of the southern Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas installation, which is located on the Strait of Hormuz and houses the headquarters of the Iranian navy, reveal plumes of smoke rising from a number of ships on the start of the week.

Maritime Forces Sustained Significant Damage

Included in the ships sunk was the IRINS Makran, the country's most sizable ship which had been used as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery displayed thick smoke emanating from the ship which had been stationed at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical reports state that at least five vessels at the port were "hit or sunk". Imagery of the southern end of the harbor depict smoke rising from the Makran, while another pair of ships seem to be impacted, with a single one seen burning.

At Konarak, images show multiple stricken vessels, with intelligence reports pointing to strikes against six vessels. Images taken on Monday also show that several structures at the installation have been demolished.

"For decades the Iranian regime has harassed international shipping," a senior US military official declared. "Now, there is not one vessel from Iran at sea in the Persian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Gulf of Oman, and we will continue."

Some vessels allegedly destroyed may have been obscured in aerial photos by weather conditions or battle damage, or hit in open waters, and have not been conclusively proven. Additional information stated that one Iranian ship was foundering off the coast of Sri Lankan territorial waters, resulting in a search and rescue mission.

Missile Installations and Atomic Locations Hit

Neutralizing Tehran's launch facilities and the prevention of atomic bomb programs were listed as additional objectives of the offensive. Aerial imagery also revealed strikes on the southern Khorgu and northwestern Tabriz missile facilities, and at the Konarak air base, where missile storage facilities and bunkers were struck.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone unmanned aircraft site to the west of Kermanshah, significant damage was seen to storage buildings, underground facilities and UAV launching apparatus.

Impact was also observed at a surveillance station at the Zahedan airbase in eastern Iran, close to the frontier with neighboring nations.

Significantly, the latest wave of attacks have apparently focused on facilities at the Natanz complex – considered at the core of Iran's atomic program. An international watchdog commented that the affected buildings were used for entry to the site's below-ground nuclear plant and that "no radiological consequence" was expected.

Broader Fallout and Assessment

Defense experts indicated that the offensive appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iranian navy's ability to conduct standard operations using its most significant vessels. However, it was emphasised that Iran retains the ability to launch irregular strikes at sea through the use of drones, midget subs and its so-called "ghost fleet" of tankers.

The total scale of the destruction caused to Iranian military infrastructure has yet to be fully assessed, with strikes said to be ongoing. Photos also reveals widespread destruction to the command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

Numerous of non-military structures also are reported to have been hit in the capital city and across the country since the conflict started. Reports of deaths from ground sources indicate that many hundreds of non-combatants may have been killed in the strikes.

As the situation develops, analysis of aerial photographs will continue to assess the evolving battlefield picture.
