Performer Rejects Anti-Vaxxer Views Following Narrating Controversial Pandemic Film
The acclaimed actor has provided his narration to a recent film that challenges the efficacy of vaccines and praises one-time government figure RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Disputed Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for assertions that Covid was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, the executive producer, has also written books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. The producer took to social media praising Neeson's role in the film.
A Strong Statement
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a statement pushing back against implications that he subscribes to anti-vax sentiments.
"We all understand that corruption might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be equated to rejection of vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His long work with the global charity reinforces his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response added that the star did not shape the project's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the filmmakers.
Major Claims Within the Documentary
In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson includes several provocative statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "medical science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is shown stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, saying they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Controversy and Recent Issues
The film includes a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Last month, Kennedy directed the CDC to revise its official position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, despite a fresh analysis from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.
A Past Record of Endorsement
Contrasting the film's tone, Neeson has in the past shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a different phase."
