Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

US actor Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, according to reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several well-known programs, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
